Alumni Tobias Ferguson recently returned to College to spend time with our Foundation Diploma in Art & Design students, sharing insight and encouragement drawn from his own creative journey. During his visit, Tobias spoke about how his studies at the College helped shape his skills, confidence and ambitions, providing a strong foundation for his progression into higher education and the creative sector.

Since leaving St Helens College, Tobias has gone on to achieve a First-Class Honours degree from University of Salford in Interior Design, receive the Student of the Year award, and establish a successful career as both a curator and freelance designer. His experience offered students a valuable perspective on the opportunities available following further study and the importance of perseverance and creative development.

Tobias’s continued connection with the College, and his willingness to give back by supporting current students, makes his success story particularly meaningful. His journey serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved, and a reminder that successful creative careers can begin right here at St Helens College.
