St Helens College & Knowsley Community College students have shown they are a class act after achieving excellent pass rates in this year’s external T Level and BTEC examinations.
The second-year Level 3 students collected their amazing results from the College this week and there were smiles all around when the envelopes were opened and the results were revealed.
For many students, this is the culmination of two years of hard work, which will set them on the path to the next stage in their careers, taking them onward to university, employment and apprenticeships.
Among this year’s successes were:
Layla Harding, who achieved three Distinction* grades in the Animal Management Extended Diploma, said: “I am really happy with my results and they are beyond what I expected. I have been accepted to study Marine Biology at Bangor University, which is an amazing opportunity. Thank you so much to St Helens College, particularly Nicki James, Helen Poyser, Amber Maddocks and Louise Houghton.”
Taking up an offer to progress onto the Fine Art Painting BA Hons degree at University Centre St Helens is Alissah Banks who achieved three Distinction* grades in the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design Practice. “I am shocked, overwhelmed with happiness and I’m over the moon. I enjoyed the course so much. There is not one bit I didn’t enjoy of the whole experience and I’ve made friends for life. Now I’m looking forward to staying here to get my degree.”
Securing two Distinction* grades in Business & Technology, Aaron Todd said: “It’s just terrific. Another college told me it would take years to get here but here I am. I’ve enjoyed my time at St Helens College and it has given me access to so much. Getting these results has opened up doors for me as I am now going to study History and Politics at Lancaster University.”
Alesha Cowell is heading to Chester University to study Midwifery after gaining a Merit in the T Level Health (Supporting Adult Nursing Team.) “I was looking for a health course, then saw that the College offered the T Level in adult nursing and was super excited, especially when I saw the simulation room. I was so impressed. You have to work hard but it’s not just the nursing side of it, you learn everything that will support you in the job along the way. I’d say no matter how hard it gets, keep pushing yourself, the end goal is worth it.”
With a raft of Distinction and Merit high grades and 100% pass rates in all T Level courses, College Principal Simon Pierce was thrilled with the results.
“I am so proud of all our students as I see the effort they put into their studies every day, here at the College. These results are the perfect reflection of their hard work and determination. I am delighted to see the satisfaction and happiness in their faces and to also celebrate in the success of our teaching team and support staff who have guided and inspired our students on that journey.”
This was echoed by Deputy Principal Mohammed Ramzan who said: “This has been another exemplary year across our campuses. Our students deserve full credit for achieving these impressive results. I know they will go on to fulfil their goals in the world of work and higher education and we look forward to seeing them achieve so much more.”
While taking time to recognise the results achieved by this year’s student cohort, the team at the College is already progressing with enrolment for its September 2026 intake.
