Liam, 21, is well on the way to achieving his goal of gaining a lifelong trade by securing a Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship with KKS Property Services.

Deciding to pursue an apprenticeship to learn a practical trade and gain a recognised qualification that he could build a lasting career, Liam heard about a potential opportunity at KKS Property Services through the manager of his football team. After making a great impression during his application and interview process, Liam was offered an Apprentice Plumber role.

Now in the second year of his Plumbing and Heating apprenticeship, Liam spoke about his experience and the benefits saying:

I like being challenged by learning new things and my confidence is growing as I develop my skills and take on more responsibility to become more independent on site.

He added:

I enjoy working with my colleagues at KKS Property Services, it’s a fantastic team and I’m very grateful for the opportunity I have been given by my manager, Chris. The College facilities are great and allow me to work with the latest technologies and learn from industry-expert tutors.

As part of his apprenticeship, Liam spends one day per week at college in the newly launched £500k Green Energy Skills Centre, which specialises in upskilling industry professionals and training future heating engineers in green home energy technologies such as low energy boilers and air source heat pumps.

When speaking about his experience so far, Liam offered the following advise to anyone who may be considering an apprenticeship:

I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship route, I believe it gives you valuable life skills and is a brilliant way of gaining hands-on experience, qualifications and a salary while you work.
