Congratulations to our amazing Hair and Beauty students who clinched the title of ‘Best College in the Northwest’ at the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Northwest Competition in Blackpool this week.
The Norbreck Castle Hotel was buzzing with fierce competition as colleges from across the region gathered to showcase their skills at the annual event. 25 students from our Hairdressing, Beauty and Nails courses proudly represented the College, competing across all 22 categories including, Fantasy Hairdressing, Editorial Style Make-up, Full Face Painting, Bridal Make-up, and more!
The students brought their A game, wanting to impress the expert judges with their creativity, and secure themselves a place in the National finals, riding on the wave of last year's success where they secured second place for ‘Best Overall College in the Northwest’.
Deputy Head of Department for Hair and Beauty, Pj Bacon, said:
Competitions like AHT are a chance for students to express their creativity and demonstrate their skills. They not only instil confidence and enhance time management skills, but also serve as a footing into industry work, and increasing their employment prospects in the future.
He added:
It was amazing to secure second place at last year’s competition, but to come back this year and secure the winning title of ‘Best College in the Northwest’ is just amazing! I am so proud of all our students; this win is testament to their hard work and talents.
We're excited to announce that 10 of our exceptional students will be returning to Blackpool in May to compete in the National Finals. This comes after the college scored a total of 42 points, leading by 21 points from 2nd place!
